Instead of kicking people or having a compass why not add death match in the middle of the map?

In my opinion that wouldn't be the best solution in skywars, since it somewhat removes the whole 'knocking people off the edge of the map' aspect of the game.

The idea of deathmatch is just meh, and I believe that it will destroy the whole point of skywars.
