Dark oak trees not growing and if i add boost timer goes up

I dont know why every time i try I plant a oak tree it dosent grow just stay there but then if i add boost the timer goes up

Hi there
you need to place 4 dark oak saplings for 1 tree to grow.
you need to place them in a 2x2 pattern like big jungle trees.

Sometimes trees get glitched when there isn't enough area to grow. I have never had this issue with an Oak tree though but I have had issues growing 4 by 4's when there are blocks close to it. Make sure it is at a 3-4 block distance from any other blocks and on smooth terrain.
