When submitting a map, you're supposed to submit a map. You can build statues or random things, but there is no point in submitting it as they will never use it. They are only accepting completed maps. :)

Oh, you never said something about applying for builder... ;)
You can use everything you've built when applying for builder. It's mainly to prove that you're a good builder.
