The following keyboard shortcuts work very inconsistently when creating threads:
CTRL+ B
CTRL + I
CTRL + U
CTRL + S
This has always been a problem with the current forum as well, but basically, whenever you use such shortcuts to disable your formating, it may not actually disable. This seems to be rather inconsistent.
As an example, in the image above, I first enabled the bold format. Then, I used the CTRL+B keyboard shortcut after every word. You can see that the shortcut only worked for the third and seventh words of the sentence.
