I am just curious, have any of you noticed that when you use the blindness modifier that it seems like you get speed also?

Yeah, I've noticed that, it is obvious when you crouch and move.

No idea why is it like that, tho.

This is indeed why your movement speed is higher during blindness effects. The trade-off meant that you get sprint speed at all times.
