Building Structures That Block Your Team
If you build something that deliberately blocks your team, then your teammates will have no choice but to destroy it, wasting precious time and blocks that could have been used to make something helpful. Block the enemy, not yourself. For example: If you are making a wall, place stairs on your team's side of the wall so your teammates (and yourself!) can climb over.

Building "Sniper Poles"
Building straight up is a big no-no. When the build phase ends, all players are teleported back to spawn. If you are on top of a pole thinking you can snipe everyone when the action starts, you are just being an ass who just wasted precious blocks that, again, could've been placed somewhere else more helpful.

Wasting Blocks In Ways Other Than The Two Above
If you have blocks to spare and you think you have done everything you possibly could, think again! In BlockWars, a player's building duties are not over until they have run out of blocks. Look at your defences built by your teammates. Do they need reinforcing? If so, please do! Don't hoard blocks or waste them on an sculpture that no-one is going to pay attention to. There is a gamemode designed for players to do that. It's called Creative.

Fighting Like It's 1.8

The classic 1.8 combat mode has not reached BlockWars (yet). Combat in 1.9 has been reworked entirely. You can no longer spam the mouse when trying to kill someone. It's much more sophisticated than that now. Just, watch a 1.9 combat tutorial video like this one before even joining ANY game with 1.9 combat.

Destroying Your Team's Own Defences
I'm seeing this way too much lately.
Building defences is the whole point of BlockWars. If you destroy your own team's defences, you are undoing work that your team took a lot of effort to do. Doing this is called "griefing" and can get you BANNED! Do not destroy your own team's defences unless it is absolutely necessary (see #1). Usually your teammates will provide a way to get your team past their defences (again, see #1). Pro Tip: During the build phase you can jump into the Void to return to spawn. Don't destroy defences to get there!

Not Caring About Your Team
BlockWars is a team game. It is impossible to take on the other team on your own. If you are just running around looking for kills, you are being an ass. Do you see a teammate in trouble? Then help them! It takes a team effort to win a game.

Placing Trap Blocks As A "Floor"

Fairly recent one. Traps ONLY activate when BROKEN. Traps DO NOT activate when stepped on. Do not place trap blocks as a floor or bridge, as this wastes them. Pro Tip: Place trap blocks at eye height in a wall to make sure that enemy players will break them to get through!

Building A Flag Cage That Allows Enemies To Get On Top Of It
When building a large encasing around your flag (I call this a "flag cage"), make sure that there are is no easy way that the enemy team can get to the top of it! If they can just climb to the top, it will be very hard to get to them and thus allows the enemy team to get to your flag very quickly.

I hope you have learned something from this, and that you will no longer get yelled at. Thank you.

Another thing its not about the height but about thickness of a wall/defence...
Nice explanation I know what you mean...
PS I only go for the kills...

Also, you should never completely isolate the flag. Always make sure there is a way for the flag bearer to get in. Otherwise, they might get killed while trying to dig in. Besides, those blockd epuld be lost if they suceed. Better to use those boocks for something else, right?
