‘Default’ skins

Why does the skin I made using Minecraft’s skin maker not show up to other people and only appear as a preset/default skin? I’ve spent time an money on this skin and I would like people to see it.

If you have a character creator skin, you'll get a random skin applied as we have character creator skins disabled on the network due to performance reasons.

Pretty sure that's been a thing for months, not exactly sure how it works though

I created my skin with character creator and still can use it ingame
Only animated skins would turn me into random characters

As far as I know 3D skins and skins that cause many performance/lag issues are automatically being changed to a Marketplace skin
