If you like 1.7 so much why dont you just leave this server and forum and play on those servers?
Because there are barely any big pure 1.7 servers left because who could have guessed, not staying up to date gets your server killed.

Also mojang isn't "killing the game". Show me the stats of minecrafts playerbase throughout the years.

Badlion is pretty big, anywhere from 1.2-5 thousand players on. Na proxy alone. The EU one is pretty popular too. Minemen club has 300+ on arena. There are plenty of 1.7 servers. Cubecraft is the only 1.9 server with over 50 players. CubeCraft is kind of feeding mojang moral support. If CubeCraft reverted to 1.7 then mojang may add a /gamerule command so other servers can have the PVP mechanics they want with all the new features.

if cubecraft went back to 1.7 I'd leave guaranteed, as well as many others. and no, it won't "bring back players", it will only be harder to get players to join cubecraft because there are already lots of 1.7/1.8 pvp servers.
Not to mention all the features above 1.7 that we then can't have anymore, and of course, 1.7 hackers. 1.7 hacked clients are just way more advanced than 1.9+.

Sad to see you leave then I guess. Lots of people like 1.7 PVP. Yes CubeCraft would have to actually compete. But want to know something? CubeCraft would have something of a monopoly. I do not know of any 1.7 PVP minigame servers. That would be something CubeCraft could have to bring players to their server.
1.7 hacked clients being more developed is just proof that 1.7 is more popular and more developers code for it.

@johncoles Remember the server mcsg (Minecraft survival games)? Well they are dead now. What killed them you may ask? Their update to 1.8 is what killed the server, that was the point they started losing players, people simply didn't like the hit registration 1.8 brought about. They didn't like the newer PVP so they lost a lot of their playerbase. CubeCraft now updating to 1.9. Which is highly disrespected by almost all of the PVP community CubeCraft could actually gain a lot of players if they went back into 1.7. Or at least changed their 1.8 half of the server to 1.7. I understand that CubeCraft wants to support the newest features but it seems CubeCraft is one of the main reason Mojang isn't receiving the message that no one likes 1.9+ combat system. The game is going to grow stale for servers that aren't up to date and sustaining good combat so people are going to stop playing their game which is going to stop advertisement for the game thus killing it. It's been 2 years since servers have had updates. 2 years. The game is going to die. And like I said. CubeCraft is kind of giving Mojang support, telling them the new combat changes are okay. Several people are starting petitions to create a gamerule for the future that changes it back to old PVP (not the lame excuse of the "classic" PVP kits in the duels lobby). If cube were to revert back to 1.7 then Mojang might finally realize that the updates they are doing is going to kill the game. This sounds stupid I know, not updating the server causing better updates is kind of ironic... But it kind of looks like that.

I remember the days of 1.7.10 for mods but I've never seen the advantage of staying on it from a Vanilla point of view. 1.8 I can understand as some of the community didn't (and still don't) like the 1.9+ combat mechanic. It would be interesting to see the ability to have a game rule that let's you change the combat mechanic to either "classic" or "modern".

Trust me lots of people like 1.7 PVP. The hit registration is much better than 1.8. There really aren't any features cube would be missing out on in 1.7 vs 1.8. The playerbase of cubecraft would probably like 1.7 better. Sadly I hear it is harder to code for 1.7 however. If it is possible maybe CubeCraft could have 1.7 with cooldowns?

As you've all pointed out there are some great content changes in 1.13 BUT remember that just because there are new features (Totems for example) we might not make use of them in the ways that are there by default.
Technical limitations or because they’re OP? I agree having Totems with their actual capabilities in skywars or eggwars wont be very nice. But getting these on a Bingo or UHC map... ;)

Because of the PvP? 1.7 uses a weird glitch called hitbox stretching. Cubecraft will never return to 1.7.10. Why would they? Updating the server wont mean discontinuation of 1.8. Some people prefer classic combat over what we have now which is fine. 1.8 players like @PapaTijd and @Luzario agree that updating the server would improve the experience vastky for everyone on non-PvP games.

1.8 players here accepted updating the server because 1.12 players excepted 1.8 support. It’s called comprimise.

Cubecraft would thrive in an environment where it can take advantage of 4 major releases. I dont know how it would “seal its fate”.
I am a 1.8 and 1.12 player ;P And i fully agree with you. 1.9 has some weird things with the saturation bugs, it's very annoying that when you eat a steak you regen like a golden apple.

Lots of people like 1.7 PVP
I doubt it's the majority of cubecraft, and since you haven't shown any proof I'm very unlikely to suddenly change my mind.
Also minigame=/= competetive which is kinda the reason why there arent any 1.7 minigames servers.
1.7 has more hacked clients because it existed for longer.

In general updating to 1.13 will bring a lot more features and stuff players like than downdating to 1.7
Until you've shown some hard proof against that, I'm done arguing.

There is only one choice, update to 1.13 and make Lucky Islands, Blockwars and PVP also 1.8 (I know classic pvp but in the real 1.8 pvp you can blockhit.)

Alright some evidence, 3 of the top 10 servers are all 1.7.10 (accept a lowest version of it), badlion, cosmicpvp and the hive. 1/3 of the top Minecraft servers are 1.7 and they seem do be doing just fine. There is only one server in the top 10 that only allows clients 1.9+ which is FunCraft, a french server (their website is in french) who seems to be copying everyone else. Every other server on said list supports 1.8.

Minigames aren't necessarily supposed to be competitive they still can be, even you before suggested making a ranked eggwars gamemode (could have been different name). Also 1.7's better hit registration makes the game more fun. Minigames are meant to be fun so 1.7 fulfills that aspect.

More features are nice but the staff may not even include the new features. the main gamemodes on CubeCraft are eggwars and skywars (maybe bingo) how can we tie in curse of binding books into any of those? I guess tridents could find a place in the eggwars shop and skywars loot table but overall most of the features are either not going to change the game much or even entirely change the game around, which isn't necessarily wanted. There is a counterargument that these new features could help make more games but that would require staff to first update to the newer versions and create a game, linearly thinking double the work.
Cube is too small to have any influence on Mojang.
Aside from hypixel and their Chinese hosted counterpart, CubeCraft is #3 most popular server at the moment of writing this, so basically #2... CubeCraft could probably change something about mojang, they are the right size.

You still haven't shown if the majority of cubecraft wants this, and by looking at this poll I highly doubt it.
Also by downdating to 1.7 cube loses everything it built on in 1.8+, this includes large parts of gamemodes, tons of code, and Sentinel.
Cube is never going back to 1.7, period. If you want to play 1.7 pvp so badly you can join another server.

The poll had 1/8 votes to not update, not to mention cubes current playerbase, especially the forums. Most of the people on the forums who voted for this poll play 1.9 PVP. If cube were to go back to 1.7, then an even larger playerbase can join, I am not even asking for cube to go 100% 1.7, but maybe changing the 1.8 side to 1.7 would be a great addition, I understand that lots of redevelopment of the server would have to happen in order to make this happen, however I think the same can be said about 1.13/14. Maybe the CubeCraft community doesn't want this, but this could be a great way to get other communities involved in CubeCraft and could get the server more popular, there aren't many 1.9 PVP servers to get players from, anyone who plays 1.9 PVP plays on CubeCraft or very few play on a sub 10 player other server.

Ok you’ve made your point as to why you dont like 1.13 and only 1.7.10 because of weird buggy exploit hitbix stretching which is your so called “better” hit detection.

Asking a majority 1.9 server to go back to 1.7.10 is the same as asking Hypuxel to get on 1.9. We’re not going back to 1.7.10 when 1.8 exists. There’s a 0% chance of that happening. Go play on CCG Bedrock when if it releases. I heat (edit: um ok i have no idea what i meant by heat, anyone has an idea pls tell me , maybe i meant think idk) they have no cooldown.

Better hit detection is not the expansion of the hit box, it is simply making the hitbox the right size as opposed to the shrunken down 1.8 variant.

1.7 PvP - “who can click the fastest contest” - blocking while hitting exists, making hittering super necessary. Hitting is terrible. Often one gets hit when they should have not because of this hitbox stretching thing. Overall, the same as 1.8 otherwise. Dont really like this.

1.8 PvP- I dislike to play on this too much but its a nice refreshment every so often. Jitterclicking is a problem but removal of block hitting has eased this problem. Hit detection , although not perfect is much better. I enjoy the fast-paced gameplay that 1.8 offers. Yet i prefer 1.12’s PvP a lot more. A nice change though.

1.9 PvP- Love the cooldown and new introductions but with heavy enchants, PvP becomes long and tedious. Shields are weak in melee. Pls fix or riot.

1.9.2 - hmmm why is it kinda jittery? I dont like this one.

1.9.4 ok yay. They fixed it now. Armour piercing and new armour values , armour toughness make this PvP much more enjoyable.

1.11 - Thanks for the shield buff! Love the new hunger mechanics! You did good Mojang, except you went overkillon shields. Pls nerf.

1.13- Tridents speak for themselves.

In regards to Player vs Entity, the new combat is more challenging period.

OK here’s something. Knowing cubecraft they’ll likely use this as an excuse not to update. Ok here it goes.

Just because Mojang plans to push out 2 major releases this year (One of which is update aquatic) doesnt mean you can postpone updating.

1/8th isnt even close to a majority.

oh no could you imagine this horrendous world where you actually had to aim instead of just click fast?
btw mc's hitboxes are still ridiculously large compared to other pvp games.
