Most of the time a generator is upgraded, it shoots off fireworks as a little upgrade animation. This is cool and all, but a good amount of the time whenever (and wherever on the map) it happens, I get a severe performance drop and poor frame times. When I had vsync enabled, I would drop from 144 FPS into the 70's and then bounce back up. I thought turning vsync off would help a little, and it does to a small extent, but the upgrade animation's effect is still fairly severe. This makes navigating around the map as well as PvP difficult because one misplaced block or one missed attack can spell doom for a player. I have a pretty powerful PC (specs listed below), so if this is happening to me I can't imagine what kind of impact this has on those with weaker PCs.

Relevant system information:
  • i7-5820K
  • GTX 980
  • 32GB DDR4 (I usually give Minecraft 4GB)
  • 1080p 144Hz monitor

Wow, I taught this only happens to people with bad computers, like me. :D
Anyhow, for me the lag stops when the fireworks disappear, so it might have something to do with that, or with the generator itself, because it changes the speed of generation upon upgrading.

Probably the generators, because the fireworks is still the same and the generators produce constantly enities. Like the Iron generator.

I think it's mostly the fireworks or whatever changes occur while the animation plays that's causing the issue. The massive amount of ingots/diamonds on the generators doesn't bother even my fairly weak laptop.

Are you only experiencing frame drop when you are using VSYNC, because with the specs you have just mention on your pc this should not be happening, especially if you are deticating 4GB of Ram just to minecraft. Try keeping VSYNC off and on the right hand side of your video setting's change the FPS to unlimited this should help. If you know this what kind of operating system are you using for instance I use Windows 8.1 64-Bit. If you have anymore questions let me know:)

As I mentioned in the post, turning off vsync didn't really help.

you have 64bit computer so you need this java version: http://javadl.oracle.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=207775
4GB Ram is enough
you can also download optifine for a FPS boost: https://optifine.net/home
Everyone had more FPS in 1.8.....
He has 32GB ram.... his minecraft uses 4gb ram.... i7.... 64 bit
I don't think he lags only when the gen fireworks come up....

Could work....
