occasionally, you find a player adjacent to you with dominating armour, and is bridging towards you like a steamtrain, and you have no projectiles left to scare him away. You're basically dead, because despite finding a bow in your chest, you quickly realize that you have no arrows.
I suggest that feathers and flint become a common item to be found in chests in skywars, so that players can craft arrows if they've found none already. It would work in a way that occasionally substitutes enchanting bottles and lapiz for these items, making arrows more common.
These items shouldn't be too common that you have about 50 arrows on you, but they shouldn't be too rare to a point where you've finally found a feather, but you're 50 years old now.
This is the crafting recipe for arrows. We can already obtain sticks relatively easy, but the only way we're getting our hands on feathers is if we spam eggs until a chicken spawns, and then wait for it to grow up before killing it. I don't think there is any way of obtaining flint since no maps feature gravel blocks, or none that i can think of at least.
I like this idea a lot since it gives the player a sense of accomplishment rather than just being given everything, and the game holding your hand throughout the rest of the game. Similar to how you can find string in chests to make a bow if you haven't been blessed enough to obtain one already, this will grant players a second chance at surviving if you found 15 bows in a chest, but not a single arrow. Admit it; you've had games where you've died, because you found bows but no arrows, and then somebody with the tank kit is at your island before you know it because you couldn't shoot him off.
