Hello, I believe that at the moment the discord punishment track against misuse of channels is too strict. The current rule has the punishment track of Warning → 3 days ban → 7 days Ban → 30 days ban → Permanent ban - and I believe, as the title suggests, that the punishment track should contain two warnings rather than one.

The reason I think this is too strict is because it's so much easier to break this rule than any other rule in the discord, to be in the wrong channel is a normal thing that happens to everyone and I think having two warnings instead of one is more reasonable than having one warning and then bans after it.

Rules with punishment tracks very alike to the misuse of channel rule are the likes of swearing and spamming, the difference between these is being in a wrong channel is so much easier than literally typing out a swear word or spamming five messages or more.

A lot of people may say "shouldn't people learn from one warning", well maybe they should learn from one warning but I don't see why misuse of channels should require a ban anyway, while people maybe should have learned from one warning I still don't see it as right to ban people if it happens a second time. People are never effected by people misusing channels or answering questions correctly in staff help etc. it should not require a ban in any circumstance, but Cubecraft does ban people so I think it would be much more reasonable to have it as two warnings and then bans.

This used to be the case for staff help misuse and I believe it was a much more fair punishment track than what now, bans people after there first warning rather than second.

In conclusion I believe the old way of having two warnings for misuse of staff help was much better and I think it should be pushed out to the whole rule of "Using Channels Incorrectly". if you agree :agree: please vote below

It's a good idea. But this does happen often so instead of 2 maybe like 3 or 4. Mostly because I see people (like me) doing this ALL the time so yeah definitely 3-4 warnings.

Those of u disagreeing aren't helping this at all, so please say why in the comments.

I don't agree with this suggestion, because while the rule for misuing channels might be the easiest to break, it's also the easiest one to avoid breaking - just double check which channel you are currently in, and go to another one if necessary. On top of that, you can always delete your message and hope no one saw it.

ig i'm stupid then, i totally did not break the rule 3 times without noticing :monkeylook:

but anyway I do agree with the suggestion, especially since 2/3 times I literally noticed after posting the message and either said sorry or deleted the message, but still got warned so ig even noticing isn't good enough so yes i agree very pog

Why?? most people that aren't like you don't tend to double check the channel and just post. Your helping tons of people out just by agreeing to this. Plus the delete your message thing, I'm pretty sure mods can see messages even if their deleted.

Maybe it can be easy to avoid by constantly double checking the channel your in, which I'm sad to say I always have to bcs of this rule.. But why does this affect anyone and why does it even deserve a ban in the first place?

From what I know, if staff didn't see your message quick enough to warn you and you managed to delete it, you won't be warned (this saved me a few times).

If most people do not want to double check which channel they are in, then that's their problem as they are the one who could break the rule and end up punished. Also, I don't understand how I am helping tons of people if I agree to this, as people who do not care about the rules and or/don't respect them will end up banned anyway, while those who do care will most likely never break them. I don't know if mods can see deleted messages, but from what I know if you delete it fast enough you won't get punished.

I hope you're joking here... "why does it even deserve a ban in the first place?" What do you suggest then? Just removing all messages until the rulebreakers give up on breaking the rules?

I'm suggesting no one deserves a ban for this only having broken the rule once before I see twice as much more reasonable

And you are constantly saying you should just delete it fast, how is that fair to people who didn't delete it, that system is just stupid. On the forums its more fair, if someone breaks a rule whether they delete it or edit it out they'll be punished

You can't just tell people to delete it, that's just unfair

And my suggestion is just simply that an extra warning gets added

I really care about the rules and ive already got banned 2 times because of necroposting. I know that was off topic but it was an example of what I mean. If you don't understand what I mean is thousands of people that are in discord may make this mistake once. maybe even more then once without noticing. that's what I mean by helping out TONS of people.

I'm not saying you should delete your messages fast, I'm just mentioning it as a possibility which DOESN'T work 100% of the time. You said that deleting the messages isn't fair to people who didn't do it, which I just don't understand. If you realised that you sent your message in the wrong channel in time, why wouldn't you delete it and send it in the correct one? And I simply don't agree with your suggestion.

I understood that part, what I didn't understand is how a second warning would make people actually follow the rule.

But it's only luck whether you notice your in the wrong channel, and it's not in the rules that if you delete your message fast you will not be punished so either way it's not lenient whether it's an accident or not

Understand, huh?

It's called being unresponsible, yes some people get banned because of this but most of the time it's a straight up accident. Spoiler alert, it will keep happening. Their trying to follow the rule, forgot the channel their in, and when they wake up in the morning they go on discord and then post something off topic on accident because they FORGOT what channel their in. Then they get warned. If they've done it before, well, BANNED!

Because I think one warning is enough to tell the player they must stop doing this, and maybe looking next time where they write what, because every channel got his own topic.

Ive already been banned 2-3 times from necroposting and sometimes i still forget. luckily i see the date right before i post so good for me i guess.

I can understand your reasoning but the point of the thread is that a ban is not needed so fast anyway, misuse of channels doesn't really affect anyone and having 2 chances rather than 1 is much better Imo

I also have been banned two times because I inadvertently wrote in staffhelp.
I can agree that they maybe should add two warnings, but that:
