Shotting past blocks?

I was playing duels with someone and they just casually shot threw a block. Is that normal?

It could be a thing where (this happens to me alot) that the block looks like its there but its not.
Or its the thing where you nerd pole up and block off all sides and sometimes you can land a corner shot if they are too close to the corner or it could be hacks who knows
