Using Fishing Rods in Combat

Hey,
I recently started playing and fighting with a fishing rod and had quite a lot of fun with it.
For those of you who don't know, the fishing rod has two main features to use in combat:
1) You can move players around by "fishing them." You can use this to mess up the opponent's movement and sometimes even pull players into the void!
2) The bait of the fishing rod can disturb the enemy's sight(It shows as a big square on their screen), causing them to be very confused.

Although other combat techniques can be much more helpful than rod PvP, it is super fun to play with and can create hilarious moments. I've attached two of my :D (I already have a handful of clips, I'll probably make a mini montage soon)

I would love to hear what you all think about this :) Do you think it's useless? Do you think it's overpowered? Do you think it's annoying because it makes you blind? xD

Is this Java or Bedrock? In Java the fishing rod sadly doesn’t have much use. You can stop yourself from falling into the void by shifting. Though you can fish someone up and kill them with fall damage lol.
