Cactus Farm

I’ve made a cactus farm using string. I thought the cactus would grow while I’m offline and flow down into the hoppers. I’ve been offline for 12 hours yet have only gotten a stack and a half of cactus despite having one layer of 40 cactus that’s meant to grow every 50 minutes. I thought this would be ridiculously overpowered but it seems like I’m barely getting any. Y’all know what’s wrong and tell me your experiences making cactus farms

I recommend using blocks instead of string, this will make it so the second cactus already breaks and not the third meaning you’ll have to less cactus which can destroy the items.
Then you will still have the cactus getting rid of items thing but less. I recommend not using cactus at all for money since this is highly inefficient and doesn’t sell for that much.
I recommend making one large dropper in which you put all the spawners you currently have. (Make sure they all fall to their deaths.

Yeah just remove some of the cactus. That most likely why they aren't spaced out far enough so the cactus blocks cold dissappear

Can you explain to me how exactly the cactus can destroy each other where they’re currently placed? This actually isn’t mine and is my friends as he’s an avid hypixel skyblock player and he knows how to build cactus farms so what should I tell him?
So we shouldn’t build this to world height?

Large dropper for mobs. So like won’t there eventually be so many Spawner as to where the world won’t summon more? So I can combine my zombies, cows, chickens, and soon to be skeletons in the same one and they will be all able to spawn? And is it ok for me to use a dropper I already have that kills the mobs with cactus instead?

Not exactly, the timer for cactus will go down while your away, but it won't break unless you are in the game.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatt. No way! So cactus is basically useless then lol. Damn, thanks for the heads up cause the plan was to build to world height with this thing.

Btw if you know. Are cows able to fall through one block spaces?

1) Cactus farms make no money(Once you get to the late game Sugarcane and glowstone are the money makers. Theres literally no reason to even farm the early island materials and I recommend you just try to unlock islands as quick as possible)
2) Hypixel skyblock is barely a skyblock and It‘s on java, mate
3) Mob droppers also make a lot of money but I quit before I thought of making one and I can’t afk anyways

Just try to advance as quick as possible(Money isn’t all thats important)

Money is important as it is needed for island expansion, farm expansion (mobs, trees, and crops), quests, and unlocking the nether!!!

Move any. I suggest move the ones closest to each other.

Money is important as it is needed for island expansion, farm expansion (mobs, trees, and crops), quests, and unlocking the nether!!!

2) I’m saying get the bare minimum amount of money to advance

yes it does cost money to go to the nether, think about the gens, and the spawners you'll need. You'll most likely want a level 1 spawner right? well costs money! Spider is like (or around) 250k zombie is like (or around) 400k and skeleton is 1.2 million (or around that). The gold gens cost like 2 million (or around that). Island expansion is important for bigger farms and not falling to your doom which as you already know makes you lose 10% money and 20% xp levels. So yeah, it is important, even for the early game. And little minimum money to advance? You'll most likely need money to cut down the trees for island 5-6-7. Not for 9 because you can't advance from there.

1) I haven’t played for 6 months and Im still 3 islands above you
2) You don’t need to buy spawners
3) You shouldn’t buy saplings or ore gens this early on
4) Once you get to the next island the items you have on your previous island are rendered useless

Yes, i recommend not going straight for nether. Finish the gold quests on the 7th overworld island (the island you are on right now) first and then slowly start collecting for nether. The only thing that you get from the nether that would be useful this early on is the optimizer, which you won’t be using all that often. Because of resource shortages.
