Camping is annoying. For those who don't know, shop camping is where you stand on the edge of the shops, hitting people to either stop them from entering or to kill them, with little to NO RISK AT ALL! This IS against the rules and can lead to your account being penalized. Regardless of this, players still do it. Why? the only reason i can think of is that stupidity is contagious. But how exactly can we stop these players from ruining the experience for the rest of us? below are some suggestions :) -snap

Suggestion:

1: Fire.
Placing fire at the entrances of shops sounds stupid. i know. However, with firespread off, this means that you take not even a heart of damage if you're generally running into the store, which can be minimized with fire resistance armour and potions. However, for a camper, they will be taking some serious damage, possibly even enough to kill them.

2: pvp mode engaged.
When a player hits you, for 5 seconds this "pvp mode" is engaged upon the players in combat, making it so that you're able to hit players inside the shop, as well as outside the shop, if this pvp mode is active. This is probably one of those things that are difficult to code, so i wouldn't be surprised if in the above poll, people vote against it

3: Good items
The majority of shop campers that i've noticed tend to have iron armour. This can mean one of two things: 1, they are lucky donators. 2, they are scared to lose something that took hours of boredom to get.
How many times have you died with only 50 points, that took you about an hour to get? yeah, full iron is expensive. I almost don't blame people for being cautious with their armour, due to the large hacker count... However, camping isn't the way. To counter camping and fear of losing good items, perhaps make items available from chests or just make them cheaper. This will not only make the items more common, but will reduce campers and will have people enjoying the game more, rather than struggling to even afford a helmet before they get smited by a full diamond player.

on an adventure
First and second idea aren't too bad, and could possibly work. For the fire, maybe not fire lining all around the entrance, maybe just the two middle blocks?

Players are so scared about losing their items that they've spent hours to earn that they remove all risk to the pvp. Without risking items to get better items, there is almost no point in pvp. It is hardly a fight if the opposing player isn't even able to hit you. Here's perhaps the greatest solution to shop camping:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make a /shop interface to purchase items. Remove all safezones but leave the buildings there, only remove the signs and maybe replace them with chests. This makes every point a warzone and removes all possibility of camping. Also, let us sell armour to actually get something when you kill players. How many times have you killed someone and gotten nothing more than a chain body and a wooden sword...
Camping isn't possible without a safezone. Remove the safezone and you remove the camping.

/shop would only work as a donor benefit and there will be no donor benefits in assassinations. besides that would be really OP
Donors don't need to be any more op than they already are. OP? why is it OP that players can access a shop anywhere on the map rather than having to rush to the other side of the map and face campers to buy their swords, when they will likely die and lose all their points, curse out the camper and get muted over a moment of anger. That doesn't sounds very fair at all...
