I'm not 100% sure why they removed miner ware or any game modes for that matter. I would guess that not enough players play the game and they don't want to crowd the server with unpopular game modes. Good question.

tl;dr bad decisions during the years made them take the hard decision of removing all but 6 games

Minerware removal is simply a stupid decision, as well as removing tower defence and duels. However, I don't think they are coming back at least until the player count manages to grow up again (if this ever happens).
