Java Why is OP items so popular?

Personally I absolutely hate OP items, fights take too long opening up huge opportunities for cleaners, and mid loot is just unfair. But apparently people disagree, because today EVERY SINGLE game I joined was op items. Why do people like it so much? (I'm in 1.8 btw)

Because you can rush all the time. I like normal and OP so it doesn't really matter to me but the biggest advantage of OP is to get everything you want in like 10 seconds.

I agree I don’t like OP items too. I’ve played 1.8 A lot and they always want OP items but at the moment I like to play 1.9 and we almost never get OP items and im happy with that.

People like the amount of grapples after you have a fight you can heal very quick and just keep fighting everyone's loot is very similar accept for the kid who goes mid I think maybe too that the fight take a bit longer.
