What is with these new textures

I am baffled by the decision to change the cubecraft textures for the hotbar. Personally, I dislike the new textures because they don't look very good in my opinion and seem too complex. Give me your opinion by voting

I personally like them, although they would look better in 32x32 instead of 16x16.
