Its probably a bug or some other sort of issue. May people have noticed it and it is likely already reported, but if things like this happen again, report them at: https://cbecrft.net/BedrockReports

Try to also record the output from the /whereami command if you encounter things like this. It could give the devs information that helps them diagnose the issue.

I'm pretty sure you lagged before or while entering a game.
I experienced the same thing but worse.
