I asked on CubeCraft discord and a staff member said bedrock knockback is the same one as java 1.9 vanilla knockback
yeah and if you factor in the lag its pretty messy and glitchy especially when players crouch. Java 1.9 is for combat update, not classic (what bedrock has), so it makes sense to use java 1.8 kb for bedrock

What it is
Upwards knockback is when you hit a player in game and not only does it knock the player backwards, it also knocks them slightly upwards. A prime example of a server with upwards knockback is ectary.club
Why it should be added
Most servers on minecraft BE have upwards knockback, many former cubecraft players (including me) are moving to servers with upwards knockback. Adding upwards knockback will bring back many of these former cubecraft players and will also bring a new challenge to the game.
No, if this was added i would legit just leave cubecraft. the reason that alot of people like cubecraft is because its similar to java. So no.

Also technically upwards kb is a thing allready, just not a large amount. and combing is possible, w-taping, strafing, snowballs/eggs, cps, pythagorean theorem (im serious the pythagorean theorem can be used to better combo) all of that can be used to combo, just look at leaderboard players and you can see how they combo. This will just make pvp as unpredictable and ping lenient as the hive.

Like already mentioned, Cubecraft said they are trying to lean more towards 1.9+ pvp combat mechanics (hence the awkward knockback). I don’t understand why though, since Bedrock’s default knockback is a lot more like 1.8 pvp...
 
They should add very slight upwards kb so you can kinda combo and just remove downwards kb because that is the worst thing ever lmaokb because

I could not agree with this more, between not slowing down every time you hit someone, and being able to combo someone like a Java combo duel, this would be really cool! It would suck playing skywars though. In my opinion, I say we should keep KB exactly the way it is. I have been noticing that the hits I'm getting are no longer dealing consistent knockback though...

PVP that is lenient on ping implies that it is more calculated and *MORE* predictable. You have it all backwards. People praise the hive knockback because of how consistent and smooth it is. Cubecraft is the exact opposite

Just because ping=kb is predicatable, doesnt mean ping by itself is predictable. Someone with unstable ping would have sparatic kb (although thats with any server, so this point can be brushed off.) And you are right for the kb being smooth, but it doesnt change that the upwards kb is highly disliked by many people (including myself.)
And like i said before, alot people like the kb on cubecraft because its like java, so when that gets taken from them, people are gonna get angry.

I honestly have never met a competitive player who enjoys the knockback on the bedrock network because it is "like java", but thats just me.

As a long time pvper, I can't hate CC's kb more than what it is; CC's kb isn't like java, it's just a messy ass combination between post and pre 1.9 kb, it still has the backwards momentum you'd get from a normal hit 1.8, but doesn't have any upwards momentum, like 1.9. I think upwards momentum should be added, comboing is one of the 3 ways to measure skill and removing it completely is just making the game easier for the dumb idiots who can't learn to pvp properly.

1) w-tapping idoesn't work on BE
2) CPS is stupid: the way BE works is that you can hit the same player (or entity) once every x seconds, so player 1 can hit player 2 only once every .5, making high cps USELESS
3) Snowballs and eggs aren't ever used in pvp for a reason, there are better alternatives: Rods, Bows etcc.; Snowballs and Eggs hitting are HEAVILY reliant on ping, and the idiots who keep this server active just spam them anyways.
4) no one is going to ever use the pythagorean theorem mid-fight, unless you are either TechnoBlade or goddamn fucking Illumina.

It's not hard to modify pvp on a server based on the gamemode you are playing, so problems with SW would not rise: They could add upwards kb on a mode like Duels, where pvp is taken a bit more seriously, but remove it on SW.

As a long time pvper, I can't hate CC's kb more than what it is; CC's kb isn't like java, it's just a messy ass combination between post and pre 1.9 kb, it still has the backwards momentum you'd get from a normal hit 1.8, but doesn't have any upwards momentum, like 1.9.
