Tnt jumping in lucky islands

when I try to ''Tnt jump'' I just die from the tnt explotion. I've seen many videos of people doing it and I can't seem to get it right. Any tips?

What I do, I try and time my jump to EXACTLY as the TNT blows up, so I'ma t the highest point when it explodes.

I remember trying to TNT jump with full diamond armour and it still did a lot of damage. However, TNT jumping with an explosive bow is a lot of fun as well!
