You mean its to stop a player from killing another player as soon as they respawn constantly? Well, your right it is supposed to stop that but it's also causing many other problems. But the solution is to just lower it to 2.5 seconds and make it so you can't attack anyone until you lose it.

What do you mean? I didn't necro post. A necro post is posting on a thread that hasn't been REPLIED in two weeks. Not two weeks old.
That is true, you did not necro-post. Especially since the guy who started the post is still replying. (That's me if anyone didn't know)
Also, spawn protection, IMO, is to give people a chance to stay in the game. It gives people a chance to defend their egg when they've lost all else.
And now, the final strategy (that I use/recommend) to deal with invincible nakeds punching you is this: Sneak onto their island and break their egg without them noticing. I've done this many times. Or you can build up and get on top of their egg. Start digging down into the block they put around it, and replace the blocks behind you. Sneak the whole time so they can't see your nametag.
Oh, and if they are... How do I say this without sounding mean... "Inexperienced" enough to just put 5 blocks of obsidian around their egg and say "DONE!", 1. They deserve to be eliminated; and 2. Just put blocks around yourself and mine the obsidian. If you can't be moved, the knockback of the punch won't do anything. Just eat a golden apple to heal. It's not that hard.
Overall, my point is that spawn protection has never been a problem for me and has only ever been helpful.

It's something I've never noticed until recently so it's obviously a very minute feature as it stands currently. I've been playing Eggwars almost daily for a fair bit of time now and never ran into any problems with it or feel like it's absolutely ever even effected my games personally.

This is one of the reasons people moved to bedwars instead of eggwars. A lot of ordinary players and staff agree that right now, spawnprotection sucks and something needs to be done about it. Excuses like "you can just block yourself in", "it gives players a fair chance" and "it prevents killfarming" have already been debunked numerous of times. There needs to be done something about it.
