Also only allowing access to plus users might reduce the number of false reports but it doesn't necessarily make reports more reliable. Buying a rank doesn't suddenly make you better at identifying and reporting hackers. You get a lot of ranks who are noobs.
Restricting reports to just hacking might help as well, guessing a lot of false reports were for camping, teaming, trolling, spamming etc., because literally 99% of hackers just fly around and bunny hop crit everyone with no kb - it's pretty blatant.
It's true not every report is reliable, some players probably just report just about every other player because they were killed by them in game. Those are the most annoying types of reports to deal with, because we have to spend a portion of our time to check out the player that was reported. And, that adds up. However, generally the reports that do come in are reliable. Perhaps making it so that only players with a certain amount can use /report would be ideal, but.. then again, not everyone is capable of recording and whatnot. Even then, we only check out reports for teaming and cheating with the /report. Using swearing reports is not exactly the best way to judge if someone has the ability to identify cheats and whatnot.
But that's not the biggest issue, even if /reports were to come in, not every one of them will be checked out because of various reasons. The main ones being that,
1. There are simply no staff members are available. For those of you in our discord server, you might be familiar with the #staff-help channel. We do allow players to give us names of rule breakers, so that we can check them out whenever we have the free time. But the key word is "when". We do our best to get to every report, but we're not able to make 50 ninja clones of ourselves (although
@SpringWarz is probably hiding some cards up his sleeves @-@, when one considers his speed at responding to players. Maybe he's actually a ninja, who knows.). We could be in a middle of checking out another player, AFK, or just trying to play the game.
2. Player is offline. (self-explanatory)
3. Or the player is AFK, this is a so-so situation. If it's clear the player will be away for a long time, I'll leave and invest my time elsewhere, but it's really annoying because we have no way to confirm the report when this happens.
At the moment, the /report for PLUS user is manageable, but it would be a big burden on the team (especially when considering the size of it at the moment) if more players suddenly had access, in my opinion.
