I need help with my iMac 2008.

Yesterday, I was doing my homework when suddenly the computer shut down, I turn it on and before the APPLE SYMBOL APPEARED the screen goes to sleep(gets dark)the computer doesn't shut down it goes to sleep basically. It's like in sleep mode all the time.

I did research and what my Mac has is a black screen,If any Mac users or experienced people know how to fix my issue please help me, I can't play Minecraft nor do my work.

I have Mac but this never happened to me, you try restarting it? If that dint work I think you need to reinstall it
