I got a warning because I was apparently necroposting even though I didn’t know I was doing it So yeah this can help prevent hundreds of people from accidentally breaking the rules like this.

I can't think about any downsides of having this message on the forums. Only thing I would suggest is adding something like 'please keep in mind that necroposting is not allowed', which makes players aware of the fact that they are doing something punishable.
