So... I get dropped to under 5 fps when looking at spiders in tower defence. Not cave spiders, not any other mob, not any sort of particle effect. those keep me above 60 easily. But looking at spiders kills my fps. Doesnt matter if its directly or in f5. Anyone have any idea what the heck is happening? and no its not just a bad computer, becuase it renders everything else fine and runs at a good fps. and also, I can see them from over 50 blocks away and still drop to horrible fps. I feel like this is some behind-the-scenes thing that is causing me extreme lag, but it seems to only affect me.

Can't really see what might be the problem here, but I anyway suggest you to set your graphics to fast and the particles to minimum. Try it now, it might be a lot less.
Are you looking at spiders or cave spiders? If cave spiders im not surprised they cause all sorts of issues including the lack of health indicator
