As an FFA Sniper main, these changes sound amazing, I'd love to see the changes implemented. If this gets a developer's attention I would like to also suggest an addition of Sharpness 1 or 2 to the iron sword. This would allow for better consistency with the bow-to-sword combo style and also lessen the impact of starting a fight, with high ping, very close to the sniper.
Currently, I don't believe it's fair that if you have above 100ms you can guarentee a kill onto the sniper if you start the fight on top of them. This problem is exacerbated when you have to decide who to attack or not, most players follow a guideline of "Let's be chill!" which means if you attack them, then they will attack you. However, new players which just attack anybody, look almost exactly the same when running in your direction. So fourth when a new player with high ping decides to attack you, due to having no space (distance from the player) to attack them, your death is guaranted unless you run for 30 seconds.
Running for 30 seconds is not fun to use or to fight against.
Thus, having the option to stand your ground would be much apreciated, and it would even bridge the gap between a competitive fight of Sniper vs Wizard.
Although, one may argue this would be too op against other roles. To this, I say, sniper is already quite powerful against kits that lack significant ways to close the distance through speed or tanking. By introducing more sword usage, this would increase the skill ceiling for playing sniper and against due to the minimized advantage of running. I will say though, sniper is already too strong against kits like Samurai, my suggestion to fix this is not through a sniper nerf but a Samurai buff such as Projectile Protection or a second non-KB sword.
