Mc has a larger amount of options of things that are possible like for example: creating different games in a game using plugins/commands. Second example: many players on servers just stick to a gamemode that they like and if they get bored of it they just move on to another gamemode or side from the mc community. The game might be 9 years old by now but people are still coming up with new creations, maps, mods etc. for the game. Endless posibilities is like a piece of a puzzle that fits very well with what many people prefer for a game to play it.

This gives players the mindset at improving at the game so they can win. Once they get a win, they want more of them with hopes of doing something different/better. En mi opinión diría que sería igual que volvieran al cubecraft antiguo, ya que el servidor esta vació no solo por el cambio que este tuvo si no por la cantidad de jugadores se retiran de Minecraft a causa de otros juegos que están de moda.

New younger players (in other words most of the community) will be playing on either an pocket edition device, or the Windows 10 version of the game since this is much easier to install and is more up in the marketing compared to the Java edition.
With that being said, it's not something you can just blame Fortnite on, it all started with Bedrock edition being praised to heaven and Java edition being seen as a second-hand version that's just old. Yeah sure they still update it, but look at the marketing, they don't really care about the Java edition anymore since Microsoft bought Mojang.
