i have a personal strategy with lava mode, what i do is keep distance from others and wait for a water bucket. when i get a water bucket i put it down and go in the cobblestone cave that it creates, then create an air pocket for myself (with a block that cant burn) and wait out the game, what are your strategies?

I love getting a breeze rod and knocking 4 people off with it within 10 seconds

If I don't get one I always just bridge to the player next to me, I don't win a lot but I like it that way :)

Sometimes when I have not enough blocks to reach a pillar but I have a water bucket I place the water at the edge of the pillar and use it to swim up onto the pillar. When I am near someone but I have no gear and they have a lot of gear, I wait to get a sword axe or armor before I fight them. Whenever it’s a slime map, I always fall on the slime in the first few seconds of the game. Then I stay on the slime and collect gear from ppl who missed the jump on the slime and kill other players who fall on the slime. And I always have a block handy incase I have no water bucket and some1 hits me off and I have to block clutch to survive.

From my experience praying for some good items and then boxing yourself in a 1 by 1 is the easiest way to atleast survive
