A way to make the Knockback Sword last

I've done it! I found a way to make the Knockback Sword last a long while! Normally, this Knockback II Wooden Sword has only 3 uses, but if you combine it with another wood sword in an anvil, you can give it full durability!

Tell me if you knew about this strat and feel free to address my stupidity in adressing something that was SO OBIVOUS.

This works on the crossroads map there is is free anvils.

You can also get iron blocks to make iron ingots to craft an anvil on other maps.
Would be very difficult to get all the iron though.
