lag

So, 1.9 has officially been released, and the lag has still not cleared. I seriously need help! Any theories/ideas? And ps I tried installing OptiFine 1.9. And ps someone also help with this. Also, the main menu also lags.

So, I'm just asking: why is Minecraft so laggier and less memory efficient (saves taking up GB's) when compared to other games?
