Crouching PVP

I've been noticing a bunch of of people have been crouching while fighting me, so I asked one of them in chat. They said you can crit someone if you time it right. Is this true, and if it is how pls (I was on bedrock)

yes u can abuse crouching to get easy crits and it works like w tapping so its a pretty good way to pvp if u try it yourself :^)

I think that if crouch hitting it timed right, it can actually reduce your knockback significantly and make it harder for you to get comboed
