Hey my buddy and I are playing colony control, yes it just released again, and we cannot figure out how to break down buildings. Last time colony control was playable we were able to break buildings with tools by mining them. Now we can only blow them up with tnt. Is this the intention or a bug?

Figured it out. You now hit the villagers in order to do damage, but there is also a glitch where if someone leaves the game the buildings that they built can no longer be destroyed.
Hi, unfortunately you can no longer break the blocks to do damage to enemy towers, now you must either hit the villager or place tnt to break them. Also, regarding the last thing you said about the player leaving the game, that definitely sounds like a bug. Please report it here, for Bedrock, or here, for Java. I hope this helps!
