So, the Eurovision Song Festival. Always a nice place to listen to the best songs from “Europe” and nothing else only. Oh wait nvm. Well, ignoring whatever can be said about Israel, they did great on hosting the event. I’m sorry for them scoring so less points.
Anyways. The Netherlands won. OMG I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE IT, NEVER SAW THAT COMING. Well we actually did, screw you, bookmakers. I actually thought Sweden won, but there was an another nonsense round. Before all this, Madonna sang the worst playback autotune worth 1 million where I wouldn’t even spend a penny on. Only to hear they did a huge crime to Sweden giving them such low points. I actually supported Norway, but Norway they were going to win.

Ever since I started following this show so much, a couple of years ago, I've always felt like it was politics > music, which is just upsetting in my opinion
The entire point of the show is to come together, enjoy music and forget boundaries. Yet, guess who Cyprus gave their twelve points, douze points to? Yeah, obviously Greece and vice versa. If Belgium makes it to the final, it's also always so painfully obvious that they'll get twelve points from Ireland without thinking about the actual music

Yesterday's contest proved once again that no one gives a kahoot about the music and it's all about the country instead. You can have my word that if Sweden was represented by North Macedonia's song (Proud) that they would have won. It's hilarious how the hosts always call the jury 'professional', there's 0 professionality.
Both the 'professional' juries as the people voting at home are blinded by boundaries, politics and countries and forget about music

Now, I'm incredibly happy that The Netherlands won. Ever since the song came out I knew it was going to win, just like I predicted last year's winner Israel. Last year, however, I didn't want Israel to win, though I knew it was going to because the meaning of the song was 'trendy' and in general the song was special.

Let me also bring up how tired I am of the contest turning into an LGBTQ+ contest. All of a sudden everyone is either gay, bisexual or whatever. I definitely don't have anything against the LGBTQ+ community as I'm part of it myself but bringing this up in a contest like this is totally irrelevant and it's all just to get those precious votes. Also, bringing up the past of an artist is irrelevant (Cyprus' artist Tamta was kidnapped at age 16 and forced to marry. She had a baby and later fled to Greece with her child. She started working as a cleaning lady and sang while doing this, her boss 'discovered' her and that's how it all came to be. Very interesting and all but it's totally irrelevant. We're here for the music.) (Italy's artist Mahmood hasn't seen his dad since he was 6 years old and in the song, he's speaking to his dad by using some Arabic words which he still remembers from his childhood. Once again, okay but no one gives a heck. We're here for the music.)

While I'm at it, I should also bring up how cringe the hosts are and how fake the 'magic tricks' were last night. The hosts are trying to perform spontaneous situations but it's so painfully obvious they studied it. None of them are fluent in English, but I'll give them that, that's not that much of an issue but last night's voting also proved they can't even count till five.

Literally when I saw Emma Wortelboer I was like what? How is she a professional? She’s only a professional in drugs and alcohol due to the youtube channel spuiten en slikken where they test out drugs?? Being an influencer is different from having knowledge about music.

I’m really not against the LGBTQ+ community but when Conchita won the song festival two years ago I had the feeling that everyone voted on him/her just because he/she was honest about his/her sexuality, while that should not matter in a singing competition. Like I have respect for it, but that shouldn’t change the competition.

I only watched Duncan singing and the points, because I was more interesting in how James Charles burned Jeffrey Starr, but from what I saw these hosts we’re just waaaayy to fake and why did they have 4 hosts?? I’m fine with 2, now it was just annoying when they switched up. And what really was annoying, everytime they said something about the Netherlands it was “the Netherlands! Pay-Bas!” And they barely did that with other countries and that got me really confused like do it english and translate to french with every country or use only one language. The hosts were just really fake and annoying. Btw did anyone hear what the host said because I couldn’t hear it? The younger one said the friend of a friend of a friend and the other host said “I’d rather not have you...” and then I couldn’t hear but I WANTED TO HEAR THE TEA

EDIT: it really reminded me of this clip from the voice
Paul was not that good at singing but he got to the last five people just because he was hyper and weird on stage

Ah, the people announcing the jury votes are just celebrities, they get the results from the jury and just announce it, simple as that :P

He's a he, he's just a transvestite. Although I like the song, I do think he would've won either way but he just got more votes by his look and performance

I don't know what situation you're talking about here, soz, but yeah they were fake and idiotic

"Only four countries left to receive their points!"
> There were still five

"Only one country left to receive points!"
> There were still two

Yeah that also irritated me a lot like I thought one country didn’t had any votes, that they meant that with 2 more countries left! Got me really confused

Fun fact though, just calculated how many % Duncan got from the total available points: it was 51.25% :)

When Portugal received the most points ever in the entire history of the contest though, they got 77.03% of the total points

Eurovision is, and has always been just about Politics. This was especially highlighted in 2019 Eurovision due to Israel hosting it through. Anyone aware of the "situation" in Israel should know the significance of the Iceland team's actions as well as the flags in Madonna's performance. It's also shown by the fact that the UK will always get last no matter how good our song is. Its really unfortunate, I know but it's just how life is and there's nothing we can do about it

The fact that contests like Eurovision and The Voice are based of something more than having an actual talent is making me sad, as America is also doing this with every talent show they have on tv. It’s more about fame, money and having a weird story than actually talent. Still think the Netherlands was lucky to win trough fair votes, instead of completely relying on the judges. Tv is just really fake and even Hans Kazan admitted it in Dumpertreten, he said that youtube is more refreshing as it’s not perfect. Tv has to be perfected and that’s what makes it all terribly fake

Btw for the Dutch/Belgic people around here. They suggested Martijn Krabbe to be a host and I’m like heck no. Since a couple of years I always feel a bad vibe seeing him on tv. Like he’s not enjoying it or feels better than the competitors at The Voice
