It's quite simple, really.
All you need to do is this:

If you don't know what I did,
I spawned in 1 wolf (regular size) and tamed it.
After he was tamed I right clicked that same wolf with the remaining eggs which summoned a bunch of baby wolves. Those baby wolves were automatically tamed because the original was tamed.

An alternate strategy is to walk up to the opponent and tame his wolves.
This only works if they place a bunch down at once and THEN tame them

I can't remember who taught me this, might've been you, but it sure did make it a game changer since I thought that the direct ownership of the pups was a creative-only thing,
I used to always stick to tactic numero 2.
