Not trying to hate ( which I already did ) but could we please get an explanation on how reducing the hacker ban from 1 year + to 7 days is a good idea?

Is this supposed to reduce hackers? If so how, just want an explanation??

Thanks GuaaaarD :)
Now son, we cant have you talking bout that (=

if I banned someone, I had to do it with the mindset that this person cannot be redeemed, that this person is guilty beyond all doubt.

If I banned someone, they appealed, and I couldn't find the evidence I used to ban them in the first place, I'm gonna have to go to bed that night thinking I might have ruined a kid's favorite video game. Maybe that kid has abusive parents and comes to Cubecraft for an escape. Maybe that kid is a lonely nerdy dork and his only friends are online, and maybe that kid is losing his favorite server because I mistook lag for anti-knockback, or some vindictive jerk used Labymod to frame his enemy and get him banned.

Now I can ban someone for a week and if they're innocent, they'll be back in 7 days and all I owe them is an apology. For the first month or so, we're gonna have repeat offenders, but after that, they're going to be getting permanent bans. People who got banned once are gonna wise up and stop using hacks. I, along with the rest of the staff team, am gonna stop being so paranoid about ruining some poor kid's favorite game and be more active with reports. This new punishment system is going to be a fantastic thing for Cubecraft, but we all need to chip in to make it work.

Just to end this conversation - The old punishment system will NOT be coming back. Ever. The new one is much better and much more versatile. That being said it isn't perfect yet and things such as punishment times are still being tweaked. Please bear with us as we make it the best punishment system of all time.

I understand you all have opinions on how the system should work, but trust me when I say we as a team have put hours of time and thought into designing what we believe will be the best system for CubeCraft.

Somebody has to realize how foolish that mindset is.

There has to be a line between the interest of this "child", or the hacker, and the interest of the players, who this server gets its revenue from.
If there is no line drawn, then Taco's and Mac's incompetence shines like the north star.

I still don't get how this is supposed to reduce hackers? If so it will only augment hackers... I could just hack now without being afraid because I only needed to wait one week. And many are gonna do that so this punishement system still doesn't reduce hackers it only allows false accusations to have a second change and I doubt there are a lot of false accusations.
Just because an appeal said that he didn't hack doesn't mean he isn't lying.
I'm sorry but this is not gonna reduce hackers, never. Hacking ban should have stayed Perm and people who get falsly banned should search a new server because it happens im every game/server.

You know I don't like being "that guy" but what if you were to get falsely banned? I'm not saying I like the new banning system though since it looks really appealing to hackers.

ip bans directly are never a good idea
He server I play on it works great they have been targeted by many hackers from people making hack demonstration videos on it and the ip bans prevent hackers without Vpns from coming back and the worse connection you get from a VPN isn't ideal at all even for hacking.

I mean how would you feel. You and your brother are playing minecraft on different accounts on the same pc. Your brother hacks. You dont. Your brother gets caught and permanently ip banned and you are unable to play on cubecraft anymore. How would you feel. Ip bans in general should only be used in the worst of the worst cases. So for
example players with the same ip keep and keep on coming and getting banned. If there are like 50 alts then maybe you can issue an ip ban if its too bad. But no server should try to use ip bans. And NEVER ban a persons ip for the first offense. Some players regret hacking when they are banned and so permabanning or perma ip banning them directly in my opinion is a bad idea. They would need to appeal and then staff would not only have more work but also decide whether or not an appeal is honest or not. Most hackers are pretty good at lying in appeals and so the players that regret it might never get unbanned, but the players that dont regret it might be unbanned. My opinion is that a one week ban still is a little short. But for the first offense its ok. As long as the punishments if a player repeats hacking get worse then its fine with me. It gives players that regret hacking a good chance to play again.

Well normally I would get back at my brother somehow and if I still really wanted to play cubecraft I could ways use a VPN as a second chance. I have no sympathy for hackers who "feel bad" about hacking because they should have realized that they were actively harming the server's playerbase by driving people off or at least attempting to. Many of the people I know who have hacked before have hacked because they didn't like the server and thought that that server should not get any players or simply they are getting bored of minecraft and also want to cause others to quit the game too. Very few people I have known who hacked on a server were sorry for hacking but still many posted appeals saying they were and guess what? They were unbanned and confined to hacked on that server. Also every hacker I have known has an alt account to hack again on a server they were banned from. I have even known some people who when banned from a server for hacking get on their siblings account and hack again.

Using a vpn to play again would be accounted as ban bypassing. Which would result in that account being banned again. I will keep saying it. Ip bans are only for the worst and not for first offense

I would be alright with ip temp bans after the 1st or second attempt.(I think Lyz thought of this)
