What is with the item despawning rates!?

Items are despawning like 5 secounds after they are dropped, i tryed to give my extra diamond armor to my brother who was playing with me and the items despawned before he could pick it up, without the server saying REMOVING ALL ITEMS. Whats the point of killed other players if you can't get their armor and gear! Please remove items only when the server says REMOVING ALL ITEMS

I don't think it is 5 seconds till they despawn it is more like 5 or 10 minutes.

lol have you played kitpvp? maybe in normal minecraft but whatever they have i killed a player and just items just despawned so yeah 5-1 secounds

I think your wrong. I played KitPvP sometimes and you only see the countdown of the clearlag (1 minute). But it's actually 5 or 10 minutes.

I have actually noticed this issue quite frequently. I think the rates in which items despawn may depend on the number of entities that are currently on the map, since it usually tends to occur after I kill another player, before I am able to pick up the loot. Either that, or really inconvenient timing..

Item clearing occurs every 65 seconds. I couldn't find anything that causes more drops to cause a clear, so it's probably just bad timing.
