Hey guys, recently I've started playing SG and once I get some good loot I spend 5mn wondering around the map looking for any sign of life. I think adding a compass pointing to the nearest player could be a really nice feature.

I know but at the deathmatch there usually are more than 1, and guess what out of the blue they team on you. Then you die because you got 2v1. Then you know there are always those people who camp shifting so you can't see their username.

The compass would be too OP in my opinion. Especially considering that the maximum amount of players for an SG game is 16. Although I would like this feature if it was nerfed. Maybe the compass would work at the end of the game only, or it could only find up to 2 players (probably would be hard to code).

I don´t like this idea. I sometimes really like to hide when I just have chain pants on and there is a team with nearly full iron. A compass pointing at me wouldn´t be good in that situation.

Deathmatch starts when 3 players are left. I never had a problem with that so far. The games usually end pretty fast?

-_- a compass points to the nearest player so if there is a team, it would point near the teammate. And as you said the death match starts when there are only 3 player left so if a 4th player is hiding it would only be a waste of time.

I don't see how it is OP.

Maybe if it's like a small amount of time, like it shows on top of the screen roughly their co-ordinates, it will take away the "opness" of the compass, yet the players can find the campers. x3

Well then maybe when the compass is pointing to a players in the radius of like 20-10 blocks the compass will point to the nearest other player.

The compass kit would pretty much ruin the concept of sg, since in the actual Hunger games, which, Atleast that's what I think, is the actual reason for the existence of the game, they have to find each other, too. Also, as often said by others, it's really WAY too OP, because if you gather good stuff and then also have a compass that shows you the coordinates of the nearest player, that would just not be right.

The only thing I could think of it being in the game would be a new Kit in the Advanced Sg Kits part, called "Mapper" or "Tracker" which has a Map and a Tracker, but then the Tracker should be changed a bit, so it shows players in a distance to like 100 blocks away from you.

But that would just be an idea, because I still think you don't need a Compass on maps like "Desert" or "Candy", and even other maps are about 4 plots big, not that big in my opinion.

If that's your reasoning why don't take down kits that will give full iron armor and the kit where you have a diamond sword because that is totally against the principles of HG, since you normally you start with nothing. Then again I will repeat myself, the compass will not pin point the location of the player, it will show his direction and then once you are in a certain distance of him it will track someone else. I'm pretty sure that there are several places to hide in maps like " desert and candy."

Iron Gear/ Diamond Sword just means you are really strong in fighting, but if you are good you could run away and hide from them, and stuff, but that wouldn't work if they've got the compass. Before the Diamond Sword kit was implemented, you were able to find it somewhere, same with Iron Gear I think

The whole purpose of this compass is to help find hidden players, but if you are really good at hiding you can still hid seen as the compass changes target if the enemy is too close to you. Plus I am pretty sure you can still find some iron gear and diamonds swords in the chests. Having iron gear or even a sword once spawning is against the principals of HG and is pretty OP, so your argument saying that starting with a compass as a kit is pretty OP is invalid.

This is SG, not HG.

My point is that, even in the name it says "Survival Games", meaning you have to survive, and with the compass it would be nearly impossible. Also to avoid those "campers" the maps are made to be pretty small.

Even if there are those campers, you can just study the map's chest spawn points, to get an advantage in other games and know where are all the chests. You also can't always be full iron + diamond sword, so I'm pretty sure you could run around the map, and gather better gear + there would be a chance of finding campers.
