Yea I know, I didn’t find a fix/ they haven’t fixed it yet so I just quit playing
I’m kinda housebound at the minute recovering from a spot of bad health, so that’s given me nothing but time on my hands to fill. I’ve been trying to find a solution that will stop it happening altogether but it’s more to do with a memory not not flushing out properly issue on the server that needs a workaround.
I have however managed to find a way to stop the crashes. (or so it seems at the minute) for me personally the issue was having three massive drop kill farms next to each other, with lots of spawners in each. 1 pig, 2 creeper. Each farm had 64 double chests fed by 80 hoppers.
I took the 96 pig spawners out the push pool spawning area, still crashed. One of the creeper farms had a full set of 96 spawners in and its twin I was filling at the time so only had like 30ish in there.
I took the 30 out of the second creeper farm and it still crashed when it felt like it.
Next I took a bunch of the creeper spawners out of the one farm that was left running, till I had just 32 in there. It lasted a little while longer that had been but was still crashing. I was stumped at that point as that farm used to originally run fine the last time I played skyblock a year or so ago.
A friend of mine came round yesterday who knows a bit more tech than me about stuff, he laughed as soon as I said to him what the issue was, and the fact is’d took out all the spawners and it was still happening.
He said “the spawners aren’t the issue, you could run twice as many as what you have easily. The issue is all the empty chests and hoppers of the other idle farms. Even though they are not running at the minute it’s still sending thousands of packets of data for each one checking if it needs to take anything in”
He suggested I broke all the chests and hoppers of the two farms that weren’t in use, which I did just to see.
Conclusion so far is that now the single creeper farm with 64 double chests and 80 hoppers is running fine with around 130 spawners in it without the game crashing.
Obviously a fix needs to be implemented overall to stop that happening, but if you build your farms 80+ blocks away from each other, (and any other storage rooms etc) you should be able to afk by at least one of them without the crashes.
