That is not a new game feature. It's most likely just new bug which you can report. If you need help with making bug report, you can read this tutorial about how to make bug reports!

Which eggwars mode did you experience this in? I've played solo and haven't encountered this issue

So, I play solo and can't upgrade, I press shift + RMB or LMB, RMB, LMB and NOTHING happens. I'll report.

I just figured out wtf was going on...
Before you had to click on the sign to upgrade. Now, you have to click on the GENERATOR to upgrade. And I'm there clicking on the sign.
