Would it be possible to create a captcha for first time joiners of the server where they need to change their skin OR name once to verify it's not an alt account but a full access minecraft account.

For first joining accounts they will get a popup in chat to choose between /changename or /changeskin.
They will be told to perform the action and relog.
If they can't verify their account is full access they will be frozen in the hub until they can.

This would reduce the amount of cheaters by ALOT since all those bhoppers are level 1 stone rank accounts.
I'm sure Mojang has an API for checking name and skin changes since namemc can display these aswell.

Imagine joining a server and being told you have to change your name if you want to play. That would be so weird, lol
If you play 1.8 you might know about the cheater problem. It's getting out of hand.
On average 3/12 players in skywars are flying around and bhopping, sentinel can't detect these new clients like sigma so they rarely get banned.
Anyone that plays 1.8 cubecraft knows about this problem so i don't think anyone wouldn't spent 2mins on changing a skin and helping to make the server cheater free.

I do play 1.8 and I know there are many hackers. However, I think the majority of new players are not cheaters. Imagine being a 9-year-old Steve, trying to join this cool minecraft server because your favorite youtuber plays it, and finding you have to change your skin when you don't even know how to do it.
I agree with the fact that there are many hackers, but this is not the correct way of fixing this problem

A 9-Year old Steve wouldn't even know how to get 1.8.9 in the minecraft launcher.
If you can get onto 1.8.9 you are smart enough to be able to change your skin
Why are there hundreds of Steves who don't even know how to use shift and build a bridge, then?

This is just a terrible idea.. Imagine having to change your skin or even your name, in order to play. That's just.. no..
You mentioned that if they knew how to play on 1.8 they knew how to change their skin. What about a name? It's not as easy.

I agree that there are a lot of hackers but making them change their name or skin is just.. no..
Many legit players will probably leave and go to another server because they don't want to change their name/skin.

I ment to choose between skin or name, whichever they prefer. And they can easily revert the skin afterwards.
And it only applies to first time joiners.

Who wants alot of hackers on cubecraft? You guys do! Another server, hypickel actually has a pretty good system of detecting alts and most of the time if you try to use alt on hypickel, you will get perm banned for security. Cubecraft kinda has a system like hypickel, but its 100x worse because alts will work 99.99% of the time without getting banned for compromised account and even when u do get banned for it, It takes literally a minute to make a fake appeal and bam ur alt is unbanned! Idk how cubecraft can make it similar to hypickel, but managment should try at least
Doesnt hypickel blacklist and block VPNs?
CubeCraft needs to either blacklist, update the anticheat to detect the newer clients or implement my idea until they find a better solution because the current state of 1.8 skywars / eggwars isn't that good.

That doesn't change my comment? Changing your name or skin in order to play on a server is a horrible idea.
People will possibly leave because they don't wanna change their name or skin.

They're working on the anti cheat all the time, iirc. They just don't make an update thread on it all the time.

Using alts isn't bad as long as people don't hack on them. So I don't think CubeCraft should do anything about people using alts, but just the people using it to hack or to escape their ban, they should be banned.
But the entire skin or name change: no

If this were to get implemented, which it wont. This will just end up being something NFA shops keep in mind, verify the account once, then sell it. Would probably just be a completely automated thing shortly after it'd be rolled out. Its just gonna bother new players, nothing else

I understand that 1.8.9 is definitely having trouble with cheaters but I seriously don’t think a measure like this one would be a good idea. Sure, it might stop a few hackers from joining. But it might as well stop a few new users from joining. Perhaps if CubeCraft was a competitive PvP server of some sort, I’d understand such measures and agree with them. But Cubecraft is a very child-friendly server and has sacrificed a lot to be as easy to play as it can. (E.g. Game lobbies).
I will have to say no to this one, making things hard for legitimate players is not the way to go.
