  • We're running an internal migration of all old players' stats to our new highly advanced statistics tracking backend. This means that stat changes will be a bit delayed while we ingest this huge backlog of data. Nothing is being lost, it'll just take a bit longer to show up in the in-game UIs.

This is quite a simple yet effective suggestion to help tackle the amount of inappropriate content being shown in voice channels by trolls and anyone who just wants to be plain dumb. The suggestion is to remove the Go Live feature ability from guests, Staff would still be able to use this feature, but removing it from guests has some pros and cons.

PRO

  • Reduced Moderation in voice channels
Moderation in voice channels would still be monitored, but without the ability to use the Go Live feature, it would cause less harm as anyone could live-stream whatever they want such as pornography or epileptic images that might cause seizures and affect young adults. Moderation would be more towards the voice aspect of the channels.

CON
  • Nobody other than staff would be able to use the Go Live feature to livestream their gameplay on the network.
I know a lot of people use the Go Live feature on the Discord server (myself included) and it would be sad to see it be removed, but I would rather put less work on the moderation team and let them have the ability to focus more on the Minecraft server and Discord help, rather than continue a feature that might cause health and wellbeing issues to members of the Cubecraft community.

Multiple partnered servers have already removed the ability to go live, we should follow in their footsteps to make sure we are keeping the Cubecraft community as safe as we can, even when staff is not around or available.

Hello Hazard,

I am personally not in favour of this idea, and I'll tell you why. Nobody forces you to watch anybody's livestream, it's a livestream after all. Whenever you're in a private call the screen always appears there whether you like it or not, and if that were the case with the "go live" function I'd agree with you any day, but that isn't the case.

Not to mention there are currently over 30 staff members who are assigned to help and moderate the Discord server (and of course the other platforms), and those are only the helpers and mods. Since there are plenty of people to moderate the Discord server, and their timezones are quite variated, plus the fact that you are not forced to watch livestream makes me disagree with your suggestion.

TL;DR Since Discord doesn't force you to watch livestreams and there's plenty of helpers and moderators available I am not in favour of this suggestion.
