Blocks are cheap enough in my opinion, as you can get them in great amounts if you spend just a little amount of time.
Food on the other hand, feels somewhat annoying to get sometimes. Especially early on. I like cheap steak, as I won't have to worry about food at the beginning of a game spending a whole 5 iron for a single steak. I like being able to get enough gear to rush all of the islands asap, so I usually play OP half health to combat my little problem.
I wouldn't necessarily say they have to reduce the price of foods, but maybe add some in between level foods. These could possibly be cooked fish, cooked chicken or baked potatoes.
