Yes, exactly and they will be able to keep all of their mojang/mc settings because it is only 1 mojang account but you can change your name. So the name change will not affect anything.

That post is outdated.

90% of our network is now compatible with name changing. If you change your name everything should stay the same. The only affected servers would be servers like creative or skyblock and factions, mainly freebuild, all of those servers are currently in the process if getting support for name changes, however, I do not think we will make it before the expected release date. What this means: You will likely loose your plot/island/faction if you change your name, but nothing too serious otherwise. Stats/ranks etc will stay.
