Oi. You may know me.

Due to rule changes from a couple of months ago ( Oct 20, 2017 if I guess correctly ), advertising YouTube or Twitch streams and channels was made punishable. The community acted opposed to this change, and although the storm around it has calmed down, I'd love to reintroduce media advertisements in a controlled manner, hoping it can revive streaming on our network.

/advertise Watch me conquer the wars of the sky https://bit.ly/IqT6zt
/ad Watch me conquer the wars of the sky https://bit.ly/IqT6zt
/live Watch me conquer the wars of the sky https://bit.ly/IqT6zt

These three commands can be used to achieve the exact same-- a server-supported, automatic advertisement every 5 minutes in a lobby and 10 minutes in a game.

[LIVE] Buuuddy - Watch me conquer the wars of the sky

Your rank prefix will be removed and replaced by the official [LIVE] prefix. Your username will -if ranked- have the colour you gave yourself. The message can not be coloured. The command will automatically detect any links in your message and add them as a hyperlink to the message, removing the link itself.

I was also thinking about having an option in your settings called 'reduced advertisements', where every advertisement has a 50% chance of coming through to people who enabled it.

Any forms of advertisements through regular chat will remain punishable.

Let me know what you think. I'll escalate the thread once/if it gets 10 likes.

Note 1: like if you got rick rolled lmao (so funny yes)

Note 2: WHY DID GOOGLE DISCONTINUE GOO.GL -____-

This is a good way to do it, but people would probably bypass the cooldown by having others advertising for their friend with this command. It'd be hard to get around that.
One problem I had with stream advertisement, is that people used annoying chat formatting tools to make it much more attention grabbing. So the mechanic where you can't use any formatting is an absolute must.
As for the rest, I don't think making a 50% chance for those who have advertising enabled to receive advertisement makes sense. You'd either want it enabled or disabled.

If anyone advertises outside of the use of this command, they should obviously get the same punishment as they do now.

also thanks for rickrolling me

+1 but I think the reduced part is pointless and should be left out.

There could be a punishment for those who are caught doing so - either the person having friends use the command or the friends get their permission to use the commands revoked for a certain amount of time, which increases with each offence and the maybe fifth or tenth punishment they lose the command permanently.

I say we punish the friend not the actual person advertising otherwise you could easily get other people punished by advertising for them.

Obviously, this shouldn't work for muted users.

Otherwise good suggestion.

I definitely support this! I don't know if this will be liked, but I would like to add something: Only users who have the obsidian rank or the plus rank would be able to use this.

I'd prefer not to have different rules depending on people's rank. :>
I think he meant as in anyone lower than obsidian would just get a message "insufficient permission" when they try to use it. Tbh everyone should have access to it as there may be a stone ranker with 25k Twitch followers.

My additions:

Link cooldown:
Cooldown for specific link (together with the cooldown for the command)
To prevent other people promoting that stream with their /ad command

Player one:
/ad https://twitch.tv/yourlink1
Returns: Your stream has been successfully broadcasted.

Player two:
/ad https://twitch.tv/yourlink1
Returns: That link is currently on cooldown!

Link validation filter:

Checks if the link is indeed a twitch or YouTube stream:
/ad https://p**nhub.com/disisaexample
Returns: That's not a valid link

/ad https://twitch.tv/yourlink
Returns: Your stream has successfully been broadcasted.

Very good idea.
You could've also just used the poll instead of posting an useless reply.

The ironic part is that I usually click 3-5 cps, and my highest cps record on mobile was 7. I’m NOWHERE near being an auto clicker 😂
