Web [Poll] Thoughts on 18+ section?

What are everybody's thoughts on an adult section of the forums?
In this hypothetical section will be two sub-sections:

• Game discussion
• Everything else

This will not be a place for suggestions, bug reports or staff help. It will be moderated as usual by any and all staff members who wish to view it, and the only difference in the rules is that swearing will be allowed. Anything deemed offensive, pornographic or harmful in nature will still be against the rules; the only change is that swearing is allowed in ordinary conversation.

To access this hypothetical section, you will need:

• To be at least eighteen years old (or claim to be when creating your account)
• An account that's at least two weeks old
• An account that has at least one-hundred messages on it

The reason I bring this up is because there's a sizable ongoing discussion about swearing, since it seems many of us would like the freedom to swear, without compromising the child-friendly atmosphere that gives this server its identity. If a section as described above is implemented, then we could have said freedom, without potentially exposing underage users to offensive or inappropriate content. If somebody chooses to lie about their age and are offended, then the responsibility will be on them; not the server.

Anyways, please share your thoughts via the poll above, and feel free to expand on them in the comments. I'm interested to see everybody's thoughts on this subject.

Would you be interested in seeing such a thing on the CCG Discord? Restrictions will still be in place, namely that you'll have to use a command to opt into said section(s) upon reaching a predetermined period of membership.



Just to reiterate, the purpose of such sections isn't to cause total anarchy, but to simply have greater freedoms when interacting with other players. See it as a conversation on the forums, except any mature users can join in at any time and add to the discussion.

If I had to guess, maybe 0.1% of the community is actually 18 or older. Adding these sections wouldn't really be of much use, especially on the forums if barely anyone can access it.

Yeah, would probably see most use on Discord. I don't think adding new sections to the forums is very difficult though, so the only real downside I can see is that it may be difficult to moderate if it becomes a cesspool of toxicity. It depends on how well the message is conveyed that offensive content is still not allowed.

I dont see the problem here. My god, you wont know how irritated I have been the last couple of years because we cant type a single swear word in the chat because of em little kids!

Why 18 years or older? Arent there alot of kids from the age of 15 who swear alot? Also I know more people UNDER 18 that swear more than people OVER 18.

I would love to see this, it will bring a bright thing to the server.

I understand the intention of this suggestion, but this is really a horrible idea when put into practice. My suggestion would be to make a fan Discord for Cubecraft players where they can post inappropriate memes and swear and such. That's pretty much what my stream Discord has turned into.

Mm, I know there are quite a few fan discords (I'm even part of two of them), but they don't really have the same vibe to them. Do you think we could see an increase to the number of players allowed in conversations, and perhaps a cool-down removal in them too? That way, large groups of people could use conversations as a sort of thread. For so long now, conversations have been really limited by the cool-down.
