New Game: Disasters! 🌋🧟

Hello CubeCrafters,

Is it time for a new Beta Game, already?!? - We're excited to share something concepted about a year ago with you. Back in March 2024, I thought it would be fun to develop a game where random, fun, crazy and disastrous events occurred every 30 seconds, whilst you're in a survival world, trying to play vanilla Minecraft, then PvP other players.

After some play testing, the game felt more like a tech demo. The framework this was built on was used for the initial version of Pillars of Fortune, but the original concept was shelved. Jump forward to now. We've stripped back to the basics, making the events simpler and wilder, and placing players in a pre-built arena. Introducing Disasters - Want to learn more? Read below!

Disasters!

Now available on Java & Bedrock! - Disasters is a fast and chaotic game, where every 30 seconds, an event occurs. Either positive, neutral or negative. You could get meteor showers, with zombies, and rideable snowballs, who knows what you'll get!

There are around 40 events, with a grace period midway through the game. Events will stack up to 3 in the regular game, but in Stacked mode, events are endless. Even more dangerous! - You have one objective: survive. Be the last player standing, or beat the timer!

Honestly, i would love to see more maps for this game. So that we can have different experiences each game in terms of how the map looks, where to go, etc.. Overall, A great gamemode and fun!

I think it is a really fun gamemode but there are some flaws with it.

most importantly is that some disaster have way to little impact. there are a variety of disaster than are just stay inside, acid rain, lighting storm, potion rain, wither shower and a couple of others. then there are ones that don't do anything meaningful at all like blackhole. in my opinion most disasters should have a lasting impace on the map, for example the black hole could be a sphere that slowly grows and destroys all blocks it touches instead of being some particles that pull players in. and acid rain could 'dissolve' random blocks that the rain falls on. I think this could make the end game a lot more interesting and the most fun matches were the ones that had a lot of terrain affecting disasters early. I have a few more minor/nitpicky things

some combination of disasters are are really annoying like swap + gravity change or are a bit flawed like vampire + brawl. these are not that big of a deal since usually you won't encounter these

there is only one map but this could be changed later if this gamemode will be permanent.

I hope that my first point can be atleast taken into consideration since I think that will make the game so much better.

I really like the idea and most of the disasters, but frozen touch should be restricted to the late game, the keep moving and frostbite are just annoying, and the mob ones should give weapons. otherwise great.
