Need help with pickaxes

Would it be worth it to get a unbreaking 5 efficiency 2 gold pick instead of a efficiency 2 unbreaking 3 iron pick? Asking because somebody told me gold was better but I just wanted to make sure.

i dont think its worth it, the mining level of gold is lower then iron, so spending this much exp in it would be a waste later in the game. i'd say go for iron, and maybe upgrade to diamond when you can/want. diamond takes quite a while to respawn so idk if its rlly a good idea in the end when you are going to mine a lot. iron is early game, spawn decently fast, okey durablity and you can mine any ore with it
