Hello BedWars players!

I'm here to provide some QoL suggestions to help improve BedWars if the next update is planned for the game. This game does have potential in this server, that's why I made this suggestion.

1: Add 8 team maps for Solo and Duos [Bedrock only]
This fixes the pacing of the game for some of us who don't enjoy the game because it's too fast. It makes matches much more interesting. I found it strange for the game to only have 4 teams instead of 8 in Solo and Duos. Java will not receive this due to low player counts.

2: Add favorite items category
This allows players to save time especially at the start of the game to buy their stuff quickly before leaving their base to attack other teams or to get diamonds.

3: The shop should not open the last tab you were on
The shop right now opens the last tab you're on, which is so annoying since you could, for example, end up buying multiple stone swords instead of wool. They need to fix that so it opens blocks by default.

4: Rebalance some stuff
Some stuff in the game are too expensive or too strong.
Examples:
- Terracotta should not have blast resistance, this defeats the purpose of blast proof glass.
- Wool should cost 5 iron for 16 wool, so you get 32 wool for 10.
- Pickaxe should cost 10 gold instead of 20.
- Healing hat should cost 30 gold instead of 20 because of how powerful it is.
- Add a cap to totems and turrets so players can't abuse them

5: Make base alarm a team upgrade instead of being active by default
Because alarms are always on, you cannot sneak into enemy bases to get their bed, since they know you're on the way.

6: Replace Iron Age team upgrade with haste
So that we can buy iron tools at the shop instead and to allow all players to break blocks faster.

7: Add more shop UI options [Bedrock only]
Some people would prefer to use the Chest UI shop or the Modal UI shop used in EggWars. This suggestion also applies to EggWars. You should be able to select this setting through the settings menu in the lobby.

8: Let all players start with leather armor by default, remove it from the shop
This makes it so players can survive at least one more hit before being killed, and makes protection upgrade helpful at the start since all players have armor. That 20 iron can be used to buy blocks and a stone sword.

9: Increase the generator speed in Normal modifier
Right now the generator is too slow in Normal modifier, especially in Solo mode. Speeding it up slightly helps improve the pacing of the game.

10: Add colored bed icons for different team colors in the scoreboard
Right now, all bed icons on the scoreboard has the same color (red). Adding more colors to each team makes it look much nicer. I made one back last year:

11: Add a sound when enemy beds are broken and when enemy teams are eliminated
There's no sound for when both of those events happen and we rely on sound cues for important events in the match. Adding a sound for both of them will fix it.

12: Add ender chests to bases
So that way we can keep our resources so we don't have to always carry them around and teammates can't steal them from you.

Completely agree with most of these!
Make base alarm a team upgrade instead of being active by default
Especially this one I'm a big fan of. One of the key parts of Eggwars is that you can, like you said, sneak on your opponents, which is completely out of the question in bedwars.

Also the pricing changes you mentioned are a big yes for me, the combination of expensive items and slow generators really doesn't work for me. Hope these get implemented, nice thread!!😁

1: Add 8 team maps for Solo and Duos

1. Disagree about the part for Duos, 4 is the perfect amount. 8 would be way to many, especially for the maps. It would just be utter chaos at mid. It would also likely devolve into fighting against your neighbour, right at the start of every match. It would also mean anyone without a neighbour due to leaving last minute, or it didn't fill up fully due to playing at off peak times, would have a clear advantage. Also would increase queue times, and people playing off peak, would have to wait the entire countdown a lot of the time

I don't think you can play solo on java, so can't comment.

2. Prefer the current system personally. But not against the idea.

3. Ngl I didn't notice it till you mentioned it. So can't say I have an opinion

4. Not mentioning how the axe is in needing of balancing is nuts. That's the most broken thing in bed wars. It's the a really busted weapon that costs 20 iron, that is also permanent. I'd suggest either nerfing it's damage, or removing it from a player if they kill someone with it, forcing them to return to base and buy it again. To your points though
  • "Terracotta should not have blast resistance, this defeats the purpose of blast proof glass."
    • I disagree entirely. Terracotta being blast proof stops someone just placing tnt or fire balling, then destroying your bed, there's also tnt rain. Blast proof glass allows totems to effect through it, Terracotta does not. Glass also allows this, but with tnt rain, it's not going to last. They both have there own purpose, it would be nice if cubecraft explain that's how totems and glass work though lol.
  • "Wool should cost 5 iron for 16 wool, so you get 32 wool for 10."
    • I disagree. It forces you if you to make a decision on what to go without if you go to mid early. That being either, no armour, no sword, or only wool bed protection.
  • "Pickaxe should cost 10 gold instead of 20".
    • I disagree. If it's 10, it speeds up how early you can rush, and allows you to get it right at the start.
  • "Healing hat should cost 30 gold instead of 20 because of how powerful it is."
    • I agree healing hat's are powerful, I just don't know if 30 gold is the answer. Maybe make it cost diamonds? Honestly this one would be something that you play test to find the right balance
  • "Add a cap to totems and turrets so players can't abuse them"
    • Totems are abusable, but I've found more when attacking than defending. Best of both worlds would be to add a cooldown before you can place another. Again, would have to play test to find the right balance. But at a guess maybe 30 seconds for regen and mining. 60 seconds for blindness.
    • Turrets in my opinion aren't great, even when spammed all over the base. They might get a lucky kill or two in early game, if placed well or the bridge to mid is built with them in mind. But they fall off so fast later in the game. Even if you spam them

5. I disagree vehemently. You can go for their bed when they are both out of base, and you can almost always get the bed before they get back. Usually you can even knock one of them off on their bridge, when they are on their way back to base. It makes it more skill based, instead of favouring the attacker if they had no alarm. You could just run across the bridge and sneak when they go to the store otherwise.

6. I disagree. This just helps attackers and makes it even harder to defend. It would also make destroying blocks undeath the player, instead of fighting become viable. Which I'm not a huge fan of. I would like faster sheers, but because of the problem I mentioned, it's not a good idea.

8. I disagree. The current way is perfect. You have to decide between: Going to mid early but at risk being easily killed; waiting for everything but at the risk of the starting diamonds being taken; Going to mid early with armour, but no extra blocks. It also normally requires you to bridge from the middle of your base as well, instead of the side, making it easier to lose your bed; ect...;

9. I think it's fine at the start for normal, but slightly boosting increased gen would be nice.
Please note that I'm talking about Duos only. No clue about solo, as I don't play it

11. Great idea. No clue what minecraft sound effect to use, but like it. Would also suggest adding one for when a player leaves the game when there not eliminated, but could be difficult to implement.

12. My own suggestion. If someone leaves after you've knocked them off, but before they've died. It should register it and say you killed xyz, or if they've got no bed, which is when this normally happens. It says you eliminated xyz and you get the points, and is reflected in both players stats

A lot of your changes seem to be in favour of rushing, and doesn't take into account anyone with a different playstyle, or the balance aspect. Though a couple are really good idea's

Good feedback. I forgot to add a disclaimer to say that majority of the changes are made with Bedrock in mind.

For example, the 8 team maps doesn't work for Java since the player count is too low for it. It works better for Bedrock. The shop UI and favorites changes are mainly for Bedrock since Java has a better shop system. I have updated the post to clarify that
