Hello everyone. I was wondering if putting water near soil had any effect on the crops that grew on them. When I checked, crops on moisturized soil took just as long to grow as crops on unmoisturized soil, so I'm a bit confused. :confused1:

I don't think it makes a difference since crops all have specific times to grow. It should prevent the farmland from drying up if there is nothing currently planted on it, though.

A pretty core Minecraft mechanic is that hydrated soil does not have the tendency to break the crop, but unhydrated soil does. This means mobs or players walking, jumping or running on soil may cause the crop to break, restarting the time taken. There have been multiple cows that have walked on my crops and broken them :[
